Light is a major design element in architecture. Whether it is the sophisticated layout of commercial and presentation spaces, the wellthought out lighting of residential spaces or the design of façade displays, ingenious lighting systems are increasingly becoming an integral part of building design. The legendary Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide commissioned 50 acclaimed architecture firms from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - curated by the Architekturbüro Deutschland, designed and photographed by Jens Passoth - to create their own visions on the issue of light and architecture, The result was 50 experimental 'lightboxes', exemplifying delightfully unique lighting design that promises to become a source of inspiration for everyone interested in the relationship between light and architecture.
