|a The classical electromagnetism described by the Maxwell equations constitutes a fundamental law in contemporary physics. Even with the advent of sophisticated new materials, the principles of classical electromagnetism are still active in various applied areas in today’s advanced communication techniques. Physics of Classical Electromagnetism, by Minoru Fujimoto, is written with concise introductory arguments emphasizing the original field concept, with an aim at understanding objectives in modern information technology. Following basic discussions of electromagnetism with a modernized approach, this book will provide readers with an overview of current problems in high-frequency physics. To further the reader’s understanding of the concepts and applications discussed, each illustration within the book shows the location of all active charges, and the author has provided many worked-out examples throughout the book. Physics of Classical Electromagnetism is intended for students in physics and engineering but will serve as a useful reference to graduate students and researchers in fields including but not limited to classical electrodynamics, electromagnetism, optics and lasers. Minoru Fujimoto is (retired) Professor of Physics at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He is also the author of The Physics of Structural Phase Transitions (Springer, 2005).
