| Περίληψη: | In the 8th chapter, various case studies are presented regarding the adapted reuse of existing buildings with the modification of use or extensions. The reuse of buildings of collective memory, as vehicle of the spirit of their era, constitutes a wide, complex field with directions, admissions, legislative context, construction practises etc. Thus the topic cannot be presented in one chapter, even briefly. Therefore, the chapter constitutes a complement of design respectful to environment. As a consequence, it is developed under the prism of “economy” - of materials, techniques, energy sources etc., deriving form the adaptation of an existing deserted building, becoming liveable in order to serve a different use.
