Περίληψη: | This chapter discusses the contribution of women teachers and pedagogues to the formation of education theory and practice in the Greek state and the Greek communities during the 19th and 20th centuries, and consists of three parts. In the first (introductory) part reference is made, in general, to women’s interventions, both direct and indirect, in the development and orientation of education, placing these interventions in a more general evolutionary schema. The second part discusses in brief their contribution to the shaping of education in practice (general education, public, communal, private, pre-school education, organisation of technical/professional training, both standard and non-standard), as emerges from the preceding chapters, and a “schema of women’s intervention” is presented. In the third part their contribution to shaping education theory in the Greek-speaking area is presented through the discussion of the views/positions of certain women pedagogues: Polytimi Kouskouri, Efrosini Samartzidou, Sapfo Leontias, Aikaterini Laskaridou and Myrsini Kleanthous-Papadimitriou. Their work is presented, with emphasis on the development of their education theory and the influence of their views on the reality of education of their time (through implementations in education and the circulation of their work).
