Περιγραφή
Περίληψη:The electroencephalogram is a recording of the electrical activity in the brain generally measured at the scalp. Although the origin of the electroencephalogram is not completely understood, it is generally accepted that it represents the averaged activity of many millions of neurons in the brain, after being filtered by layers of fat, bone and cerebrospinal fluid. This aside, the electroencephalogram has been found be a valuable tool in the diagnosis of numerous brain disorders. This chapter initially gives a brief overview of the history and the origin of the electroencephalogram before reviewing standard recording techniques, signal processing and analysis methods.
