This chapter is an introduction to the terminology of geothermal energy in the types of geothermal fields and their potential uses. The presentation concludes with a summary of the advantages and disadvantages in the use of various applications. Η «γεωθερμία» είναι ένας ενεργειακός πόρος ο οποίος στην Ελλάδα, μέχρι την παρούσα χρονική περίοδο, δεν έχει προσελκύσει το επενδυτικό ενδιαφέρον αν και έχουν δημιουργηθεί μικρές κυρίως εγκαταστάσεις αξιοποίησης της. Σε αυτό το κεφάλαιο γίνεται μία εισαγωγή στη σχετική ορολογία της γεωθερμίας, στα είδη των γεωθερμικών πεδίων και στις δυνητικές χρήσεις της.
