Some properties of the estimators are also studied. These properties are bias, unbiasedness, consistency, etc. Το πρώτο κεφάλαιο είναι εισαγωγικό και αρχίζει με μια σύντομη ιστορική αναδρομή σχετική με τη Δειγματοληψία από το 1895 μέχρι σήμερα. Παρουσιάζονται επίσης χρήσιμοι ορισμοί βασικών εννοιών, όπως είναι ο πληθυσμός, το δείγμα, η δειγματοληψία και οι τυχαίες μεταβλητές με τις ιδιότητές τους και τη λειτουργία τους. Δίνονται ορισμοί για μερικές παραμέτρους των τυχαίων μεταβλητών και εκτιμήτριές τους.
