Περίληψη: | This chapter presents the basic principles of neuromuscular activation with an emphasis on the anatomy of the peripheral nervous system (motor unit activation). There is a detailed presentation of the background of electromyography which refers to the process of motor unit and whole muscle activation. There is a description of a basic electromyographic system (amplifier, electrodes) and the a recording protocol (sampling rate selection, electrode positioning, skin preparation, muscle selection, data monitoring) as well as measurement errors. There is a step-by-step presentation of electromyographic signal analysis such as the concept of filtering and normalization and the type of variable estimation and selection. Finally, examples of electromyography recordings are presented from various sport movements.
