Γενικεύεται η κατασκευή στατιστικών συνόλων για κάθε θερμοδυναμικό σύστημα με οποιεσδήποτε μακροσκοπικές μεταβλητές. Παράγεται η πιθανότητα μιας μικροκατάστασης, οι ιδιότητες και οι αντίστοιχες διακυμάνσεις τους, με βάση τις μικροσκοπικές αλληλεπιδράσεις του συστήματος.
