This chapter discusses the parameters of intraabdominal pressure in patients of Intensive Care Unit, the definitions of intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome, the risk factors for the occurrence of these and the intraabdominal pressure measurement methods in clinical practice. Also reported the effects of increased intra-abdominal pressure to the functional systems of the body and finally the prevention and treatment of abdominal compartment syndrome.<br/>To understand this chapter is necessary to know pathological physiology elements of the functional systems of the body and mechanical ventilation elements.
