Description
Summary:Deep vein thrombosis and its common complication, pulmonary embolism, are often seen in critically ill patients, worsening their mortality and morbidity. In this chapter we refer to the diagnosis and management of patients with deep vein thrombosis and /or pulmonary embolism, as well as to the principles for the prevention of such conditions. Moreover, we refer to pulmonary hypertension, a syndrome induced by multiple causes and affects outcome of critically ill patients.
