Περίληψη: | Additive manufacturing (AM) provides the industry with great new possibilities concerning designing. AM turns to free-form designs with reduced weight, which are individually customized. Taking advantage of these aspects, the manufacturing world is led to a still not fully discovered, continuously expanding, era. This diploma thesis includes a thorough look of the designing of a platform which will be attached to a wheelchair for offering autonomous movement to people with disabilities using a smart mobility system. The mobility platform is considered to consist of a number of modules, most of which are expected to be designed and manufactured using AM technologies. Moving into the humanitarian engineering domain, the main goal of this project is the proposition of different types of platforms, the designing of each one, breaking it down to different modules as well as the categorization of each type of platform considering the different requirements, through a well-defined parametric design. This product design flow will lead to the manufacturability analysis that will define which modules need changes in order to achieve the best design for the mobility platform, as long as a customized product. The results of this procedure form a concise list of the challenges, one faces during the designing for an AM product, but also fulfils the different requirements for a fully functional platform used as a vehicle part.
