Περίληψη:The aim of this study is the development and implementation of a surveillance system based on Wireless and Network Communication Technologies and Embedded Systems. The aforementioned application is able to detect human activity and depending on authorization of said activity, perform specific actions to notify users. This provides a service for people living or working in places easily accessible by outsiders and want to maintain a sense of security. This topic has always received a lot of attention and is of a great technological interest. During the development of this study we have utilized an FPGA platform that realizes a controller unit which coordinates the actions performed by the system based on the input from a PIR motion sensor and wireless identification tags in the form of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacons and makes use of network communication protocols to notify users. In short we establish a fully remote and autonomous system. By using the Python programming language and utilizing its immense collection of libraries, we have managed to develop an application that is able to communicate with said controller unit and perform the necessary tasks to keep the user up to date with potential unwanted phenomena by presenting them a live stream video footage of the area being monitored. This thesis provides a detailed analysis of related scientific areas and aims to provide the reader with the tools to fully comprehend the suggested solution. During this process we have found that it is possible to use widespread and low-cost technologies to develop a state-of-the-art, reliable surveillance system. Finally, we were able to create a platform that classifies between authorized and unauthorized activities in real time and provides the foundations to act upon them. We believe that this application can be the foundations for similar ones in the future and aid in the development of more complex Surveillance and Security Embedded systems.
