Περίληψη: | The synchronized occurrences of heavy rainfall (and other extreme weather events), as well as the study of their relationship to time and space are of great socio-economic importance, for example in agriculture and insurance sectors, but also for the general well-being of the population. In this study, the structure of spatial synchronization of rainfall is analyzed as a regional climatic network pertaining to the region of Greece and constructed from the time series of the corresponding meteorological parameters examined. The similarity between a series of events of rainfall is determined by the number of synchronized occurences. So we construct and analyze climate networks by using a python package which is pyunicorn. Also , what we are trying to achieve in our research, apart from synchronizing the occurrence of extreme rainfall events, is to examine whether these rainfall events are in agreement with a classification , derived from the cost73class project by using geopotential height data (850hpa) for the same time period (1979-2018) and for the same region (Greece). We want to find if they
explain each other and if they complement each other. Finally, we understand that this is how we achieve 3 things. (1) Constructing and analyzing climate networks, (2) Weather type classification, and (3) Linking the previous ones to the synchronized episodes of extreme rainfalls.
