Breast cancer screening mammography has been reported that reduces the mortality from breast cancer by 30%. A new technique is introduced as a screening and diagnostic tool, the Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT). For the implementation of DBT as a screening tool must provide at least the same image quality at the same radiation level as the digital mammography. The purpose of this thesis is to compare the dose between DBT and DM. Data from six patients, aged 38-72 were received from The Patra’s General Clinic “OLYMPION S.A”. Selenia Dimension, Hologic system was used, which allows both DM and DBT modes. The target/filter combination used was W/Rh and W/Al for DM and DBT, respectively. For the estimation of Mean Glandular Dose the Dance formalism was used. The mean glandular dose for Digital Mammography was 1.43mGy while for Digital Breast Tomosynthesis was 1.78mGy. Thus, by comparing the two different values, we conclude that the MGD in DBT was 24.5% higher than in DM. 2021-04-07T10:44:18Z 2021-04-07T10:44:18Z 2021-03-29 http://hdl.handle.net/10889/14743 en application/pdf |
