Disability and labor market : deaf people and hard of hearing in Greece

The purpose of this dissertation was to characterize, evaluate, and present the labor market outcomes of deaf impaired persons, as well as their labor market results in labor force participation, employment, and unemployment. Using data from Greece’s national statistics agency and a nationwide health survey conducted every five years, it was determined if hearing impairments have a negative influence on the labor market outcomes of deaf and hard of hearing persons in Greece.There is a scarcity of economic scientific study on the labor outcomes of deaf people and, more broadly, on economic well-being, particularly in the Greek labor market. Some of the findings of this thesis agree with the scientific study, while some disagree.There is a need for economic academics to do more extensive study on the labor market outcomes of deaf persons in the Greek labor market.
