Περίληψη: | The purpose of this study is the establishment of Institutional Diagnostic Reference Levels according to the complexity indices for specific procedures in interventional radiology which were Hepatic Chemoembolization, Iliac Stent Placement, and Femoropopliteal Revascularization. Moreover, effective dose which is used for the estimation of patients’ stochastic effects, was calculated through DAP values of this study and E /DAP conversion factors derived from the literature.
Research’s sample was taken from Attikon University Hospital. Patient’s somatometric and demographic data, as well as the exposure parameters were collected from October 2021 to January 2022 for 218 patients who underwent the following IR procedures: Hepatic Chemoembolization (HC) (107 patients), Iliac Stent Placement (ISP) (47 patients), and Femoropopliteal Revascularization (FR) (64 patients). The basic parameters that have been studied and related to Diagnostic Reference Levels were Dose Area Product (DAP), Reference Air Kerma, and Fluoroscopy Time (FT). In terms of complexity, three complexity indices were initially assigned to the procedures mentioned above from interventional radiologists based on the current literature, and their respective levels for each procedure separately were calculated.
Values of the proposed Diagnostic Reference Levels emerged from descriptive statistics of the sample, while from complexity’s study multiplicative factors of the parameters were emerged for the transition from one level of difficulty to another.
