5G network architectures are redefining the way resources are deployed and managed inside a communications network. A fair statement regarding these changes is that 5G is taking full advantage of cloud-native and virtualization technologies and simultaneously pushing them to the next level. These range from cutting edge, revolutionary cloud-native deployments to the more measured Νon Stand-Alone (NSA) and hybrid architectures, which are being deployed by the existing wireless service providers. One thing is clear that, the of capital-intensive dedicated physical infrastructure is meaning less and less as cloud-native technology is used to deploy dynamic, service-oriented, and highly scalable resources to deliver on the promises of 5G.
Containers and virtual machines are the essential enabling technologies of a 5G network, as they allow traditional monolithic structures of the network elements to be further broken down into customizable microservice elements. However, in the last few years there has been a sudden turn towards containerization, due to containers having small and lightweight nature, which is ideal for Cloud native applications. These applications are mainly based on microservices, which tend to be very complex. Thus, monitoring microservices and by extension containers is now essential in most modern infrastructures. With container monitoring it is possible to continuously collect metrics and track the health of containerized applications and microservice environments, in order to improve their health and performance and ensure that they are operating smoothly.
In the context of this diploma thesis, an orchestrated monitoring service for 5G and beyond technologies in a container-centric cloud infrastructure was developed, based on modern orchestration and monitoring tools. |

In the context of this diploma thesis, an orchestrated monitoring service for 5G and beyond technologies in a container-centric cloud infrastructure was developed, based on modern orchestration and monitoring tools. 2022-07-05T09:35:42Z 2022-07-05T09:35:42Z 2022-07-07 http://hdl.handle.net/10889/16387 en application/pdf |
