Description
Summary:In this paper, I investigate suspended affixation, particularly suspended affixation formed with derivational suffixes with a focus on Turkish. Showing that this phenomenon is attested in both the nominal and verbal domain, I defend the argument that such constructions cannot be reduced to an account of natural coordination or be explained as being part of the lexical word formation. Accordingly, I discuss the relevance of the suspended affixation for the morphology-syntax interface. I conclude that it might have significant implications for the Lexical Integrity Hypothesis (LIH).
