Stephen Napier also incorporates research from epistemology addressing pragmatic encroachment and the significance of peer disagreement to justify what he refers to as epistemic diffidence when one is considering harming or killing human beings. Napier extends these developments to the traditional bioethical notion of dignity and argues that beliefs subject to epistemic diffidence should not be acted upon. He proceeds to apply this framework to traditional and developing issues in bioethics including abortion, stem cell research, euthanasia, decision-making for patients in a minimally conscious state, and risky research on competent human subjects. 2019-11-07 23:55 2020-03-17 03:00:34 2020-04-01T09:55:32Z 2020-04-01T09:55:32Z 2019 book 1005812 OCN: 1135852158 9781351244503 9781351244510 9780815372981 9781032090993 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/24319 eng Routledge Annals of Bioethics application/pdf n/a 1005812.pdf Taylor & Francis Routledge 10.4324/9781351244510 10.4324/9781351244510 7b3c7b10-5b1e-40b3-860e-c6dd5197f0bb b818ba9d-2dd9-4fd7-a364-7f305aef7ee9 9781351244503 9781351244510 9780815372981 9781032090993 Knowledge Unlatched (KU) Routledge 102684 KU Select 2018: HSS Frontlist Books Knowledge Unlatched open access |
