The investment in education has large implications for economic development and the proper functioning of democratic institutions, as well as overall well-being. However, clear consensus and guidance on which system leads to the best educational outcomes is lacking. This volume describes the resource allocation for compulsory and special needs education for a selection of well-performing countries and regions on PISA tests. By studying the funding systems in well-performing countries and regions the authors identify the elements in the respective funding systems that are associated with best outcomes and have the ideal characteristics to pursue particular goals of education systems such as equity and efficiency. The funding methods of primary and secondary education as well as special needs education are covered. 2019-09-10 14:24:08 2020-04-01T10:08:53Z 2020-04-01T10:08:53Z 2019 book 1005355 OCN: 1126145522 9789462701915; 9789461663016 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/24756 eng application/pdf n/a 9789461663009.pdf https://lup.be/products/125609 Leuven University Press Leuven University Press 10.11116/9789461663009 10.11116/9789461663009 91436d3b-fb9a-45e9-8a57-08708b92dcda 608fbdcb-bd0a-4d50-9a26-902224692f76 9789462701915; 9789461663016 Leuven University Press 164 Leuven 2019-09-10 14:16:09, Funder name: The government of the German-speaking Community of Belgium; Steunpunt Onderwijsonderzoek (SONO) of the Flemish Ministry of Education; KU Leuven Fund for Fair Open Access KU Leuven Katholieke Universiteit Leuven open access
