The essays collected in the present volume put a special emphasis on these “foreign” and less familiar aspects of Chinese religion. Apart from an introductory article on Daoism (the prototypical autochthonous religion of China), the volume reflects China’s encounter with religions of the so-called Western Regions, starting from the adoption of Indian Buddhism to early settlements of religious minorities from the Near East (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism) and the early modern debates between Confucians and Christian missionaries. Contemporary religious minorities, their specific social problems, and their regional diversities are discussed in the cases of Abrahamitic traditions in China. 2019-04-26 23:55 2020-03-12 03:00:32 2020-04-01T10:30:00Z 2020-04-01T10:30:00Z 2015-02-24 book 1004897 OCN: 1100490974 9783700177593 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/25195 eng application/pdf n/a 1004897.pdf Verlag der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften 10.2307/j.ctt1vw0pdc 102347 10.2307/j.ctt1vw0pdc ca6d9b4e-9864-42c7-af46-370561fe314c b818ba9d-2dd9-4fd7-a364-7f305aef7ee9 9783700177593 Knowledge Unlatched (KU) 102347 KU Select 2018: HSS Backlist Books Knowledge Unlatched open access
