In a society largely controlled by white supremacist actors and institutions, Black authors have conjured fiction into a space where hard questions can be asked and answered and where the work of combatting collective, racist suppression can occur without replicating oppressive hierarchies. Intimate Antagonisms uncovers a key theme in Black fiction and argues that literature itself is a vital institutional site within Black life. Through the examination of intimate conflicts in a wide array of twentieth- and twenty-first-century novels, Blake demonstrates the centrality of intraracial relations to the complexity and vision of Black social movements and liberation struggles and the power and promise of Black narrative in reshaping struggle. 2019-03-16 23:55 2020-03-24 03:00:27 2020-04-01T10:47:48Z 2020-04-01T10:47:48Z 2018-10-04 book 1004348 OCN: 1052796857 9780814254950 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/25739 eng application/pdf n/a 1004348.pdf https://ohiostatepress.org/books/titles/9780814213780.html The Ohio State University Press 10.26818/9780814213780 103024 10.26818/9780814213780 81dece0b-2c7f-42c9-84d3-58c98f0c33fc b818ba9d-2dd9-4fd7-a364-7f305aef7ee9 9780814254950 Knowledge Unlatched (KU) Columbus, OH 103024 KU Select 2018: HSS Frontlist Books Knowledge Unlatched open access
