Despite such horrific aspects of war, evidence suggests that civil war is likely to generate multilayered outcomes. To examine the transformative aspects of civil war, Mehmet Gurses draws on an original survey conducted in Turkey, where a Kurdish armed group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), has been waging an intermittent insurgency for Kurdish self-rule since 1984. Findings from a probability sample of 2,100 individuals randomly selected from three major Kurdish-populated provinces in the eastern part of Turkey, coupled with insights from face-to-face in-depth interviews with dozens of individuals affected by violence, provide evidence for the multifaceted nature of exposure to violence during civil war. 2019-02-05 23:55 2020-03-12 03:00:33 2020-04-01T10:55:19Z 2020-04-01T10:55:19Z 2018-10-15 book 1004142 OCN: 1100518966 9780472901166;9780472901166 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/25939 eng application/pdf n/a 1004142.pdf University of Michigan Press 10.3998/mpub.9946395 102038 10.3998/mpub.9946395 e07ce9b5-7a46-4096-8f0c-bc1920e3d889 b818ba9d-2dd9-4fd7-a364-7f305aef7ee9 9780472901166;9780472901166 Knowledge Unlatched (KU) Ann Arbor 102038 KU Select 2018: HSS Frontlist Books Knowledge Unlatched open access
