Publishers’ and booksellers’ catalogues are examined as evidence of the advertising and selling techniques used by agents in the book trade, with a focus on book prices. The role of sixteenth-century private libraries and the growing phenomenon of book collecting are studied within a commercial frame. In this context, private collections are investigated as places of preservation rather than consumption, of the works being circulated within the book trade. 2018-10-15 13:57:23 2020-04-01T12:29:33Z 2020-04-01T12:29:33Z 2018 book 1000444 OCN: 1076714165 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/29493 eng application/pdf n/a Full_text_selling_collecting (1).pdf eum edizioni universita di macerata 10.5281/zenodo.1287069 10.5281/zenodo.1287069 29732096-f449-4b95-bde7-5c793706cd7c 178e65b9-dd53-4922-b85c-0aaa74fce079 European Research Council (ERC) 317 694476 H2020 H2020 European Research Council H2020 Excellent Science - European Research Council open access
