The articles in this volume investigate a series of locale-specific models of communicative conduct, or registers of communication, through which persons organize their participation in varied social practices, including practices of politics, religion, schooling, migration, trade, media, verbal art, and ceremonial ritual. Drawing on research traditions on both sides of the Atlantic, the authors of these articles bring together insights from a variety of scholarly disciplines, including linguistics, anthropology, folklore, literary studies, and philology. They describe register models associated with a great many forms of interpersonal behavior, and, through their own multi-year and multi-disciplinary collaborative efforts, bring register phenomena into focus as features of social life in the lived experience of people in societies around the world. 2018-01-08 23:55 2017-12-01 23:55:55 2018-07-02 19:54:34 2020-04-01T13:16:38Z 2020-04-01T13:16:38Z 2015 book 641495 OCN: 1030817190 1235-1938;1235-1946 9789522227980;9789522226730 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/30878 eng Studia Fennica Linguistica application/pdf n/a 9789522227980_registers_of-REVISED.pdf https://doi.org/10.21435/sflin.18 Finnish Literature Society / SKS 10.21435/sflin.18 10.21435/sflin.18 51db0f72-616d-4d86-b847-ade19380e08f 7f68f45f-a677-4ca9-a69c-989c298c9cf6 9789522227980;9789522226730 18 344 Helsinki Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation and SKS open access
