It is primarily concerned with language description and not with linguistic theory, and provides support to all researchers interested in matters relating to the syntax of Dutch, including advanced students of language and linguistics. Syntax of Dutch: Verbs and Verb Phrases consists of three volumes. Volume 1 opens with a general introduction to verbs, including a review of various verb classifications and discussions on inflection, tense, mood, modality and aspect. This is followed by a comprehensive discussion of complementation (argument structure and verb frame alternations). Volume 2 continues the discussion of complementation, but is more specifically focused on clausal complements: the reader will find detailed discussions of finite and infinitival argument clauses, complex verb constructions and verb clustering. Volume 3 concludes with a description of adverbial modification and the overall structure of clauses in relation to, e.g., word order (verb placement, wh-movement. extraposition phenomena, scrambling, etc.). 2019-12-10 14:46:32 2020-04-01T13:59:45Z 2016-09-06 23:55 2019-12-10 14:46:32 2020-04-01T13:59:45Z 2016-12-31 23:55:55 2019-12-10 14:46:32 2020-04-01T13:59:45Z 2020-04-01T13:59:45Z 2016 book 614910 OCN: 972013037 9789089647320 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/32155 eng Comprehensive Grammar Resources application/pdf n/a 614910.pdf Amsterdam University Press 10.26530/OAPEN_614910 10.26530/OAPEN_614910 dd3d1a33-0ac2-4cfe-a101-355ae1bd857a da087c60-8432-4f58-b2dd-747fc1a60025 9789089647320 Dutch Research Council (NWO) Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research open access
