This volume applies and further develops these methodological tools, new perspectives and new questions. The religious transformations of the Roman Imperial period appear in new light and more nuances by comparative confrontation and the integration of many disciplines. The contributions are written by specialists from a variety of disciplinary contexts (Jewish Studies, Theology, Classics, Early Christian Studies) dealing with the history of religion of the Mediterranean, West-Asian, and European area from the (late) Hellenistic period to the (early) Middle Ages and shaped by their intensive exchange. From the point of view of their respective fields of research, the contributors engage with discourses on agency, embodiment, appropriation and experience. They present innovative research in four fields also of theoretical debate, which are “Experiencing the Religious”, “Switching the Code”, „A Thing Called Body“ and “Commemorating the Moment”. 2020-05-07T15:47:43Z 2020-05-07T15:47:43Z 2020 book Book_9783110557596_20200507_6 http://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/37602 eng application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International 9783110557596.pdf http://www.degruyter.com/isbn/9783110557947 De Gruyter De Gruyter 10.1515/9783110557947 10.1515/9783110557947 2b386f62-fc18-4108-bcf1-ade3ed4cf2f3 7292b17b-f01a-4016-94d3-d7fb5ef9fb79 European Research Council (ERC) De Gruyter 597 Berlin/Boston FP7 Ideas: European Research Council FP7-IDEAS-ERC - Specific Programme: "Ideas" Implementing the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Community for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration Activities (2007 to 2013) open access
