The book analyses existing informal groups at the grassroots, furthering transnational solidarity in three thematic areas: disability, unemployment and immigration. Contributions assess how civic groups respond to the various crises affecting Europe, especially the economic and refugee crises, presenting new findings from a systematic comparative study conducted in eight European countries (Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and the UK). The research will be of interest to scholars, students, journalists, policy-makers and activists interested in civil society, social movements, charitable actions, altruism and solidarity, as well as European studies and the socio-economic challenges of current European crises. 2020-11-13T13:35:07Z 2020-11-13T13:35:07Z 2021 book ONIX_20201113_9783030496593_25 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/42919 eng Palgrave Studies in European Political Sociology application/pdf n/a 2021_Book_TransnationalSolidarityInTimes.pdf https://www.springer.com/9783030496593 Springer Nature Palgrave Macmillan 10.1007/978-3-030-49659-3 10.1007/978-3-030-49659-3 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 Palgrave Macmillan 305 open access
