The aim of this analysis is to provide a clearer understanding of the intertwinement of cinematic spectacles with neoliberalism and neoconservatism. The analysis comprises a dissection of Reagan’s presidential rhetoric and the examination of four seminal Hollywood blockbuster movies. The time range for analysis stretches from the 1980s until the 2010s. Among the key foci are filmic content as well as production and distribution contexts. It is concluded that Reagan’s political metaphors and the corporatization of film studios in the 1970s and 1980s continue to shape much of Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking. 2021-03-18T13:11:44Z 2021-03-18T13:11:44Z 2021 book ONIX_20210318_9783631843499_27 9783631843499 9783631843505 9783631843512 9783631837801 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/47394 eng American Culture application/pdf n/a 9783631843499.pdf Peter Lang International Academic Publishers 10.3726/b17914 10.3726/b17914 e927e604-2954-4bf6-826b-d5ecb47c6555 Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ac7aa491-fd52-447f-a2bb-3e8052dc41dd 9783631843499 9783631843505 9783631843512 9783631837801 15 378 Bern Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin Humboldt-Universität open access
