There is a range of known factors that are responsible, though the increased flux of nutrients from the sources to the water bodies is a key factor. The aim of this study is to operationalize "integrated valuation" as a way of bridging the gap between cost-effectiveness analysis and economic valuation of benefits in implementation of the Water Framework Directive. The authors begin with a definition of integrated valuation model of ecosystem services as a type of systems analysis, before they move on to describe their site of study and the boundaries of their model. Through applied demonstration, the authors evaluate whether the model meets criteria as an integrated valuation tool and discuss further applicability. 2021-06-11T08:29:18Z 2021-06-11T08:29:18Z 2016 chapter 9780415843348 9780415843324 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/49476 eng application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International 9781315748771_oachapter14.pdf Taylor & Francis Handbook of Applied System Science Routledge 10.4324/9781315748771-16 10.4324/9781315748771-16 7b3c7b10-5b1e-40b3-860e-c6dd5197f0bb 94e06f12-64af-4be4-807b-2be870ddc2b6 9780415843348 9780415843324 Routledge 25 open access
