His analysis of practices of modelling and perceiving, immersion and empathy, experience and remembering, appropriation and refiguration, combine approaches from film studies, such as Vivian Sobchack’s phenomenology of film experience, with historiographic theories, such as Frank R. Ankersmit’s concept of historical experience. Building on this analysis, Greiner examines the spatial and temporal organization of historical films and presents discussions of mood and atmosphere, body and memory, and genre and historical consciousness. The analysis is based around three historical films, spanning six decades, that depict 1950s Germany: Helmut Käutner’s Sky Without Stars (1955), Jutta Brückner’s Years of Hunger (1980), and Sven Bohse’s three-part TV series Ku’damm 56 (2016). 2021-06-14T09:30:23Z 2021-06-14T09:30:23Z 2021 book ONIX_20210614_9783030705909_30 9783030705909 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/49530 eng application/pdf Attribution 4.0 International 9783030705909.pdf https://www.springer.com/9783030502003 Springer Nature Springer International Publishing 10.1007/978-3-030-70590-9 10.1007/978-3-030-70590-9 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 5cb0e793-9d8a-4b83-9ee6-25b062467484 9783030705909 Springer International Publishing 229 [grantnumber unknown] Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung Federal Ministry of Education and Research open access
