It is a personal testimony to experiences lived through, a confession of intimate inner experience and a challenge addressed to the reader to engage in dialogue, enter into an argument or join in a game. The stances of witness, confession and challenge are always present, though usually one of them overshadows the other two. Polish memoirs, diaries and letters, as well as novels of a clearly personal character, are interpreted here in the context of the most important autobiographical texts of European literature. In the background, also, the historical events which have powerfully stamped Polish culture in the last two centuries are discreetly shown. 2021-07-15T09:46:41Z 2021-07-15T09:46:41Z 2018 book ONIX_20210715_9783653068351_6 9783653068351 9783631708606 9783631708613 9783631674277 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/50105 eng Cross-Roads application/pdf n/a 9783653068351.pdf Peter Lang International Academic Publishers 10.3726/b15550 10.3726/b15550 e927e604-2954-4bf6-826b-d5ecb47c6555 9783653068351 9783631708606 9783631708613 9783631674277 14 350 Bern open access
