It starts with essential information on the history of these dioceses in the Early Middle Ages which can be traced back mainly to accounts by the influential Archbishop Hinkmar of Reims (845-882). The problems of Hinkmar`s accounts and their continued influence are brought out against the contemporary background of the age of their composition, and their later deformations are followed over time. By taking up the trail of these deformations, the contingency of historical information and transmission becomes clear. 2021-12-07T16:15:57Z 2021-12-07T16:15:57Z 2010 book ONIX_20211207_9783110210606_64 1862-1139 9783110210606 9783110200560 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/51709 ger Millennium-Studien / Millennium Studies application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International 9783110210606.pdf https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.1515/9783110210606/html De Gruyter 10.1515/9783110210606 The present study is concerned with sources for the history of the dioceses of Reims and Trier since the 8th century.
