Drawing on an ethnographic study of Korean Canadian youth and their engagement with the Korean Wave, the book proposes a critical understanding of the interactions between diasporic youth audiences and popular culture. By examining the Korean Wave as diasporic cultural practices rather than the diffusion of national cultural products, the book reveals the diversified ways in which cultural flows are negotiated by audiences who take up relatively ambivalent reception positions between two or more national and cultural contexts. This book expands the scope of transnational audience studies and youth cultural studies by focusing attention on the diasporic media practices of young people. 2022-04-13T15:08:55Z 2022-04-13T15:08:55Z 2022 book ONIX_20220413_9783030949648_17 9783030949648 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/54022 eng East Asian Popular Culture application/pdf n/a 978-3-030-94964-8.pdf https://link.springer.com/978-3-030-94964-8 Springer Nature Palgrave Macmillan 10.1007/978-3-030-94964-8 10.1007/978-3-030-94964-8 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 9783030949648 Palgrave Macmillan 152 Cham open access |
