The study highlights the comparison/clash between two totally different approaches forced to coexist during the conflict: on one side, the one from military psychiatry, and on the other the distinctive one from civil asylums. The two perspectives were not always clearly separated, but it is possible to detect a constant tension between the duties towards the war effort and the professional ethics dictated by the neuropsychiatric discipline. 2022-05-31T10:35:53Z 2022-05-31T10:35:53Z 2020 book ONIX_20220531_9788855180795_914 2612-8020 9788855180795 9788855180788 9788855180801 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/55630 ita Premio Tesi di Dottorato application/pdf Attribution 4.0 International 9788855180795.pdf https://books.fupress.com/isbn/9788855180795 Firenze University Press 10.36253/978-88-5518-079-5 Against the backdrop of a critical reflection on the psychiatric concepts of organicism and predisposition to mental illness, the research investigates the relationship between psychiatry and the Great War from a perspective that considers the complexity of the orientations assumed by both the Italian alienists on war pathologies and the health practices implemented towards soldiers.
