The analysis of his political reflection cannot be separated from that of his moral and anthropological vision on the human condition. I dwell on three moments of his moral, social and anthropological vision of the nation, with a focus on the theme of individualism and the system of universal selfishness typical of Modernity. 2022-06-01T12:16:30Z 2022-06-01T12:16:30Z 2020 chapter ONIX_20220601_9788855181600_400 2704-5919 9788855181600 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/56217 ita Studi e saggi application/pdf Attribution 4.0 International 15524.pdf https://books.fupress.com/doi/capitoli/978-88-5518-160-0_7 Firenze University Press 10.36253/978-88-5518-160-0.07 10.36253/978-88-5518-160-0.07 bf65d21a-78e5-4ba2-983a-dbfa90962870 9788855181600 214 19 Florence open access

I intend to deal with the political thought of Giacomo Leopardi, especially in the Zibaldone, according to his conceptions on the contrast between reason and nature and on the contrast between ancient and modern, focusing attention on his analysis of the morale of the Italians, in order to identify their original line of interpretation in the analysis of the relationship between individuals and nations in the modern age, and in Italy in particular. The analysis of his political reflection cannot be separated from that of his moral and anthropological vision on the human condition. I dwell on three moments of his moral, social and anthropological vision of the nation, with a focus on the theme of individualism and the system of universal selfishness typical of Modernity.
