In the twenty-first century, we are challenged with a transformation in human collective intelligence. The key features of this transformation involve the “digital” replacing the “analogue”; design thinking and post-secularism supplanting tradition; and human agency emerging as the main driver of planetary change. Unlocking the keys to human perception, mitigating behavior and adaptive action may likely rank among the preeminent challenges we face in an age witnessing unprecedented rates of global change. The chapter showcases how the DEH is being applied by three international funded research projects: Larry McMurtry’s Literary Geography; NorFish (Environmental History of the North Atlantic Fisheries, 1500-1800); and the Climates of Conflict in Babylonia project. 2022-07-27T13:02:23Z 2022-07-27T13:02:23Z 2023 chapter 9780367536633 9780367536695 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/57646 eng application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International 9781003082798_10.4324_9781003082798-3.pdf Taylor & Francis Routledge Handbook of the Digital Environmental Humanities Routledge 10.4324/9781003082798-3 10.4324/9781003082798-3 7b3c7b10-5b1e-40b3-860e-c6dd5197f0bb da943e12-0f6a-4939-b0f0-dbba9a8e4e3c 9780367536633 9780367536695 Routledge 24 open access
