Archaeological research has been conducted at Lake Burgäschi for the last 170 years, undergoing all the developments to modern archaeology. Recently, Lake Burgäschi has been re-explored as part of an interdisciplinary research project under the direction of the Institute of Archaeological Sciences at the University of Bern. Excavations were carried out at various sites around Lake Burgäschi, allowing for a new precise chronological classification of already known sites, but also revealing previously unknown settlement sites on the lakeshore. Furthermore, by means of interdisciplinary investigations on the pottery, animal and human bones as well as flint artefacts, previous knowledge on subsistence, mobility and land-use has been substantially extended. The present volume closes a long lasting research gap and combines new results with ancient data to a comprehensive synthesis. 2022-12-23T11:54:56Z 2022-12-23T11:54:56Z 2022 book 9789464270211 9789464270228 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/60460 ger Open Series in Prehistoric Archaeology application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International 9789464270211.pdf https://www.sidestone.com/books/burgaeschisee-5000-3000-v-chr Sidestone Press Sidestone Press Academics 10.48350/173437 10.48350/173437 471fd6d5-f295-4fd0-a13a-e60a6420f603 07f61e34-5b96-49f0-9860-c87dd8228f26 9789464270211 9789464270228 Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) Sidestone Press Academics 2 502 Leiden SNF-Projekt Nr. 152862 «Beyond lake villages: Studying Neolithic environmental changes and human impact at small lakes in Switzerland, Germany and Austria» Schweizerischer Nationalfonds zur Förderung der Wissenschaftlichen Forschung Swiss National Science Foundation open access
