The exponential growth of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in India indicates ongoing efforts to transform farming as an enterprise through greater connection with markets and value chains, and lesser state involvement. The chapter provides a comprehensive review of global literature on collective enterprises and locates this research in the context of dynamic and fluid realities of the Global South that often get underrepresented in mainstream literature. The incubation, promotion and management of these institutions require a new inclusive frame to make sense of the complexity of FPOs in India beyond the narrow parameters of agricultural economics with a greater focus on socio-political dimensions. Through detailed studies of fifteen FPO cases, this volume seeks to expand the boundaries of the current discourse by exploring the multiple dimensions of FPO growth, management, and performance in diverse settings through a unique participatory research process. 2023-05-09T11:33:26Z 2023-05-09T11:33:26Z 2023 chapter 9781032310985 9781032311012 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/62935 eng application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International 9781032310985_10.4324_9781003308034-1.pdf Taylor & Francis Farming Futures Routledge 10.4324/9781003308034-1 10.4324/9781003308034-1 7b3c7b10-5b1e-40b3-860e-c6dd5197f0bb 39c972d1-cffc-448e-9341-7b3a88a5299e 9781032310985 9781032311012 Routledge 27 open access
