The chapters cover a wide range of policy domains, from visa policy to the externalisation of controls, labour migration to asylum, internal controls towards irregular migration to restrictions for intra-EU mobility. By unravelling organisational strategies and practices across Europe, the book does not only contribute to dismantling the very idea of the European North-South divide in migration but also shows how Europe really works in the field of migration in times of deep economic, asylum and health crises. In this perspective, the book questions the widespread understanding of migration control outcomes as simply the result of more or less effective state policies without considering the embeddedness of the national policy goals and strategies in the dynamic interplay of different economies, institutional cultures and geopolitical positions. 2023-05-16T15:06:19Z 2023-05-16T15:06:19Z 2023 book ONIX_20230516_9783031260025_23 9783031260025 9783031260018 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/62989 eng IMISCOE Research Series application/pdf n/a 978-3-031-26002-5.pdf https://link.springer.com/978-3-031-26002-5 Springer Nature Springer International Publishing 10.1007/978-3-031-26002-5 10.1007/978-3-031-26002-5 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 1e25004e-712b-4d82-9da3-88a34b7227ee 9783031260025 9783031260018 Springer International Publishing 340 Cham [...] open access
