The book starts with a critical reflection on the colonial undertones of parental involvement (PI) and acknowledges a strong political will to improve this aspect of early childhood education and care. The chapters in the book describe and discuss various theories, including the cultural historical wholeness approach, Bronfenbrenner's ecology of human development, the theory of social capital, the theory of collaboration, family-school partnership models proposed by Epstein and Hornby, Bourdieu's social theory, the theory of practice architectures, the discourse/narrative theory, and posthumanism. By proposing the concept of more-than-parents, the authors aim to embrace both the diversity of intergenerational family configurations and the agency of materiality, artifacts, and the involvement of more-than-human actors. 2023-09-13T19:46:58Z 2023-09-13T19:46:58Z 2023 book ONIX_20230913_9783031387623_22 9783031387623 9783031387616 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/76247 eng International Perspectives on Early Childhood Education and Development application/pdf n/a 978-3-031-38762-3.pdf https://link.springer.com/978-3-031-38762-3 Springer Nature Springer International Publishing 10.1007/978-3-031-38762-3 10.1007/978-3-031-38762-3 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 120b35f7-3027-48bc-85f8-ce25cc92925b 9783031387623 9783031387616 Springer International Publishing 40 203 Cham [...] open access
