It builds upon a recent action research project exploring how attention is commonly viewed and valued in dance training and how a bricolage-style approach to classes can encourage inter-connectedness with others, as well as amongst ideas and practices. Drawing on ideas of flow (Csikszentmihalyi, Claxton) this chapter argues that greater awareness of how we attend in practicing physical agility together can help dancers to develop an ethical agility through being present and sensitive to all that is happening in the dance class. The discussion reflects on the ways in which interconnectedness can be cultivated through an agile and empathetic use of attention and the implicit value of realising connections within and beyond dance skills development. 2023-11-09T10:23:25Z 2023-11-09T10:23:25Z 2024 chapter 9780367628673 9780367628635 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/79417 eng application/pdf Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International 9781003111146_10.4324_9781003111146-11.pdf Taylor & Francis Ethical Agility in Dance Routledge 10.4324/9781003111146-11 10.4324/9781003111146-11 7b3c7b10-5b1e-40b3-860e-c6dd5197f0bb c2e917e9-b183-4459-a85d-64c1794f142c e52cb578-dd0e-4239-8acb-7320ba588c30 9780367628673 9780367628635 Routledge 15 University of Winchester UoW open access
