Traditionally seen to serve a (colonial) port or market town, the hinterland here becomes a lens to attend to the times and spaces shaped and experienced across the received categories of the urban, rural, wilderness or nature. In straddling these categories, the concept of the hinterland foregrounds the human and more-than-human lively processes and forms of care that go on even in sites defined by capitalist extraction and political abandonment. Bringing together scholars from the humanities and social sciences, the book rethinks hinterland materialities, affectivities, and ecologies across places and cultural imaginations, Global North and South, urban and rural, and land and water. 2023-11-13T16:41:33Z 2023-11-13T16:41:33Z 2024 book ONIX_20231113_9783031242434_6 9783031242434 9783031242427 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/85038 eng Palgrave Studies in Globalization, Culture and Society application/pdf n/a 978-3-031-24243-4.pdf https://link.springer.com/978-3-031-24243-4 Springer Nature Palgrave Macmillan 10.1007/978-3-031-24243-4 10.1007/978-3-031-24243-4 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 99ee933c-3f3c-4dd9-8a09-48bceef92fcd 9783031242434 9783031242427 Palgrave Macmillan 341 Cham [...] open access
