As communities face the prospect of relocating because of rising seas, policy makers, disaster specialists, and community leaders are scrambling to understand what adaptation pathways are legally possible. While in its ideal application, law functions blindly and without variation, the authors find that legal contradictions come to bear on resettlement processes and place certain communities further in harm’s way. This book will unearth these contradictions in order to understand why successful community-based resettlement has presented such a challenge to communities that are experiencing increasing land deterioration as a result of climate change. 2023-11-13T16:41:53Z 2023-11-13T16:41:53Z 2024 book ONIX_20231113_9783031368721_15 9783031368721 9783031368714 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/85054 eng application/pdf n/a 978-3-031-36872-1.pdf https://link.springer.com/978-3-031-36872-1 Springer Nature Palgrave Macmillan 10.1007/978-3-031-36872-1 10.1007/978-3-031-36872-1 6c6992af-b843-4f46-859c-f6e9998e40d5 53541418-d476-4585-b139-541099622dc9 9783031368721 9783031368714 Palgrave Macmillan 242 Cham [...] National Science Foundation NSF open access
