This volume presents the documentation that has come down to us, accompanied by critical and detailed analyses of the sources written in Arabic, Old Catalan, Castilian, Hebrew, and Latin. It is also informed by research the author has conducted on modern Andalusian musical traditions in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria. While the cultural achievements of medieval Muslim Spain have been the topic of a large number of scholarly and popular publications in recent decades, what may arguably be its most enduring contribution – music – has been almost entirely neglected. The overarching purpose of this work is to elucidate as clearly as possible the many different types of musical interactions that took place in medieval Iberia and the complexity of the various borrowings, adaptations, hybridizations, and appropriations involved. 2024-02-29T13:53:55Z 2024-02-29T13:53:55Z 2021 book ONIX_20240229_9781000289527_2 9781000289527 9780429281655 9780367243142 9781000289534 9781000289541 9780367653613 https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/88073 eng application/pdf n/a 9781000289527.pdf https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9780429281655 Taylor & Francis Routledge 10.4324/9780429281655 10.4324/9780429281655 7b3c7b10-5b1e-40b3-860e-c6dd5197f0bb 9781000289527 9780429281655 9780367243142 9781000289534 9781000289541 9780367653613 Routledge 272 Oxford open access
